Yeah, I know it's an old instrument. I just got the thing. Mint condition, and really looked unplayed. Didn't like a lot of the custom presets someone put in there, and just wanted a factory default. Ran monkey. Long story short, the monkey saw it. Identified it as an acoustic 700. Started updating. Crashed. Now will not recognize the acoustic 700. It was working just fine when I got it. It was hooked straight to the computer with the usb adapter it came with. I also had a trs cable to the di box/power supply it came with, then into a helix. Now all the presets sound the same, and are very distorted and useless. Did I kill it? How do I fix this? I updated my 700 standard exactly the same way with no problems.

Helix firmware is up to date. I actually managed to update my 700 solid body with Monkey. Had to update the usb adapter drivers. Updated just fine. Took the same cables and plugged into the acoustic. Monkey saw it. Started updating. Crashed. Now does not see the acoustic. Helix not involved. This is straight into the computer with the usb adapter and a network cable. Well, the guitar IS plugged into the DI box/power supply, then into helix, but I don't really think that is what it updates through. Not sure. Gotta be a way to reload the factory software.

I just got an acoustic 700 NOS. Worked great once. "Once" Went to update, and apparently ruined it. Now it makes fart noises, and I have no idea what to do with it. I just want to reset it to factory default. So, I ran it through my helix into my computer. Monkey recognized it, then crashed in the middle of everything. Ran it straight into the computer with the little USB adapter it came with. Monkey does not see it. I am just lost at this point. Not a tech geek, so I hope there is a simple fix.

Picked up a Variax today. Came with guitar, power supply, and a footswitch. I cannot find anything on this model on the line 6 website. Not even a manual. So, I put fresh batteries in it. Plugged in a TRS cable from the guitar to the footswitch. Plugged in a normal 1/4" mono cable from the switch to the guitar input on my Helix Floor unit. I get no sound. I see there is a variax cable input on the back of the helix, and what looks like an ethernet plug on the guitar. I am stuck. No idea what to do next. Do I need a special cable? Honestly, I am flying blind here.

Ok, you were right. Seems to work now. In the middle of updating to 3.1.0. I was on 2.1.7, I think. Thanks for the help.

I have been told by literally everyone,including line 6, that the updater is the first thing to install.

I have not touched my Helix in over 2 years, because after buying a new computer with W10, the updater does not show any devices connected. I attached a screenshot. I was told this was a common issue with some people. I figured at some point an update would have fixed that. More than 2 years later, I still cannot update this thing,or use the editor, or do anything with it really other than play through it. Anybody else have this issue? I am the farthest thing from a computer nerd, so I have no idea what to do here. The computer is a brand new dell laptop, that works perfectly with everything else.
