  1. Worked like a charm, I'm at 2.11 as of last night. Thanks a ton guys!
  2. haha I was all prepared to get snippy about the 'it'll start downloading' but in the early part of your reply and then I got to the bottom you gave me the information (that I'm assuming, as I can't check at the moment) that I needed. I did NOT know about the 'flash memory' section of the support site, it never occurred to me to use that search string and everything I tried came up with nothing relevant. I also didn't see the option to point the updater to a local file either, but I really didn't give it much of a try, as I hadn't located the firmware file in the first place. ;) (I'm on a Mac, I assume the functionality is the same as on Windows.) Thanks a ton for the help! It seems like such a meaningless little issue, but believe me, when you accidentally buy a house in an internet 'dead zone' you start to become very aware of how many manufacturers assume everyone has access 24/7. Anyway, I've just arrived here from Axe-FX XL land and I'm still getting used to the new software and interface (omg I'm still giddy over setting patches on the hardware itself) so I appreciate the info. Merry Christmas!
  3. Nothing to forgive! Have a Merry Christmas too. :)
  4. The editer and updater aren't the issue. Without an active internet connection my updater doesn't DO anything. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong, but if so I can't for the life of me figure out what.
  5. These things aren't true in the slightest. Not that I'm arguing in favor of the 11R over the Helix (a friend just sold his 11R to fund his Helix, in fact) but the 11R is by no means an Avid-only interface.
  6. Luckily I happen to live in a very special part of Alabama that has no options for high-speed internet service (long story about a lying real-estate agent and a telco that doesn't care to run cable). I'd like to update my Helix. There doesn't seem to be any way for me to do so, short of bringing my Helix to the public library, setting it up and doing the update. Is there seriously no way to download the firmware on its own and then update the Helix when I get home???
