since the FHFX doesn't have midi I/O, and doesn't support USB midi, I don't believe this is possible. edit: but damn, you got a good deal on the unit. I struggle to find one under $200 on the used market. Good on ya!

I know almost nothing about the FHFX, as I've only had about 2 weeks, but I did a lot of research before buying and found a thread (I believe in this forum) that said there was a corrupt tone patch on the cloud causing this to occur for some users. have you downloaded any new tones from the cloud? and if so, have you tried a factory reset yet?

I'm a little late to this party, but I just got my FHFX last week and have had a little time to play with presets. for a somewhat tangible answer, the preset switching gap (while not on cloud) is about as long as it takes you to lift your foot off the button after switching. In reality it's about 100ms, maybe. I had a peavey valveking in the early 2000's that had similar lag when switching from clean to dirty. and that's mechanical relay switching.
