I recently purchased a used Spider III head. Is there any way to set the distortion best to function similarly to a overdrive for a signal boost for solos? I plugged an overdrive in line with the guitar and it doesn't do anything. There 8s no effects loop so I am at a loss.

I am in a performing band and I replaced my old amp with a Spider III head. I am trying to figure out if there is a way to use the Stomp button like an overdrive or a Tube Screamer to significantly boost the signal for solos. I put an overdrive in line with the guitar and it did nothing. Any suggestions?
