I experienced this same problem recently. I was updating my Helix Floor to v2.92 and it crashed during the process. No matter what computer(3 Macs and 1 pc) or usb lead/socket combination I tried it just wouldn't connect.
Weirdly, every Mac I connected to 'saw' the helix as a keyboard (the typing kind) so I suspect this is why I kept getting a 'connection interrupted' message. I think the keyboard setup assistant on the Mac is hanging the process in the background. Not sure about windows 10 but it was doing exactly the same thing 'connection interrupted' so maybe thats not the issue.
I was about to send it back but decided to try 1 last attempt AND IT WORKED!
instead of using the latest version of HX Edit I downloaded the line6 updater version 1.18 and installed that.
Once I had downloaded the updater and restarted the Mac I ran the software and turned the Helix on.
Bingo! The updater could 'see' the Helix and wanted to update it. I then downloaded the 2.92 firmware so that I could select the 'local file' option (cause, honestly f*ck the internet at this point!)
the update process wasn't too slow AND it was done from ANY OLD usb cable via a usb3 expansion card connected to the Macs mother board so I'm thinking that it doesn't have to be a chassis USB or a particular cable that will get you out of the mess I was in. The line6 updater software was my answer.
HX Edit now works fine and the Helix is running 2.92
I sincerely hope this post helps save someone else a day of tearing their hair out plugging and unplugging usb cables to no avail!
Rock on Kids!
