  1. I find it weird that it works for a few seconds though. Makes me think the xps was never the problem, but rather the guitar.
  2. My xps failed (i thought) so I wanted to build a new one. I did today, but I'm getting the same problem! The problem is that I plug in, the guitar works and after a few seconds, it cuts out and I get a rhythmic buzzing sound (like "zzz-zzz-zzz"). My voltage regulator has a display showing the output voltage. It shows 7.2v when it idles and when I plug in the guitar and the problem starts, it shows "0000" on the display, blinking. Any thoughts? Im giving the box 9v in.
  3. Thanks. Yeah I assume they wouldnt want us to diy it but they dont sell the xps anymore. What are people to do? I already made a solution that uses a 9vdc supply to feed the battery clip. Its somewhat unwieldy though. All I want to know is what goes through the ring of the trs from the xps. I could measure it myself if I had a working xps but I dont :/
  4. I cant get a xps (or they're prohibitively expensive) so I'm trying diy a solution for powering my variax without batteries. I can make a box that applies a voltage to the ring of the trs, but what voltage? Some say 7.2V, some say 7V, some say 9v. Whats the correct answer for the Variax500? Thanks
