  1. This past weekend, I just started using my Helix Floor as a stompbox only. I have a 5150III 50W Stealth head and had configured the floor to use Snapshots and MIDI to change the channels on the 5150III along with some effects. Worked great, except I found it too limiting and not what I'm used to. I wanted to be able to use any effect and any channel on my 5150III on demand. I am also using 4CM with it. So, after finding the YouTube video below, this is how I'm using my rig. I disconnected my MIDI cable, wiped out the MIDI channel switching configurations, and then plugged my 5150III footswitch back in and tweaked the Helix using Jason's video. Now I can change my channels like normal and switch on/off any effect I want just like a stompbox. I have more work to do to perfect it, but it works and sounds great! )
  2. Thanks guys. DarthHollis was correct: I unplugged the 5150 footswitch and the effects loop stays on! Getting used to the Helix. I have so much more to learn. This thing is incredible.
  3. Just got my new Helix last week and today I finally have it hooked up correctly with 4CM and it sounds awesome. I created a basic preset with several snapshots to control effects. I have the 5150III channel switching via MIDI and that is working great. What I can't figure out is how to do away with the EVH switcher because I can't seem to get the Helix to send a CC message #85, command 64 to turn on the effects loop. In Command Center, I used the first lightning bolt to configure all the PC messages to control the channel switching. I then used the next lightning bolt to configure CC messages for each snapshot with 85/64 to turn on the effects loop. Basically, my plan was to keep it on all the time and just have that same CC message sent each time for each snapshot in case I go to a specific snapshot when I turn everything on and this way the Helix would turn on the effects loop on the 5150III. I have to manually turn on the effects loop using the 5150III's footswitch. Anyone else figure this out? Should I turn on the effects loop and then unplug the footswitch?
