  1. That spec sheet is interesting. I suppose it could be used to, or as a starting point, to model that specific “cab”. That would require someone much smarter than I :-).
  2. Thanks a million Brue58Ski for all of the info. This should help a lot. I have been playing for over 40 years but I was never really a gearhead at all. I just found an amp that I thought sounded ok at the time and played it so this kind of info is what I need. Thanks again man!
  3. New to Helix and am trying to create a preset or presets/snapshots to play through Diary of a Madman. RR used mostly MXR pedals and I don’t know what the Helix equivalent would be or if it really matters too much. One thing I hear is that in some sections of the song the last chord or note would have to continue sounding uninterrupted into the next section. Trails ON maybe? I have made some progress but I have a LONG way to go. Thanks for any help or advice.
  4. Thanks for the advice everyone. DunedinDragon’s approach is close to what was thinking. A kind of “Serial” setup that simplifies things and eliminates a lot of pedal dancing. I made it through the manual last night and the snapshots do seem like the most efficient way to do things. Man, if I could have had one of these units back in the day when I was gigging!!! Thanks again.
  5. I’m sure this is a VERY common question. I am trying to decide on a way to organize presets for individual songs. The logical way to me would be to say, have a Bank at the top level, then have the presets for the song assigned to foot-switches within that Bank. So for playing through a setlist I could start at Bank 1 for song 1, then switch to Bank 2 for song 2 and so on? I am RTFM btw. The snapshots look cool but I am a completely new to this so I am looking for a simple way to do this until I become more familiar. Right now I am trying to work my way through “Diary of a Madman” because it has a good mix of sounds to switch through and I can actually halfway play it :-). Thanks for any help.
  6. Thanks for all of the help! Yes, the reason I got the Helix was so I could play through some of the BEST band in the worlds catalog :-).
  7. I updated the firmware on my new Helix floor unit, making sure my HX Edit was up to date beforehand. Everything seems to have gone smoothly. Do I have to do the "Power Off while holding the two foot switches" step even though I do not have any custom presets? I think also the video said to restore the unit from the backup file that I made. Is that necessary for a brand new unit? Thanks for any help.
