  1. from https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/line-6-variax-standard "The models and tunings can be used in any permutation. The Standard setting leaves your guitar tuning alone — in other words, it follows the way you’ve physically tuned the strings — but the pre‑loaded Alt tunings assume you’re using standard guitar tuning. The Model position uses whatever tuning is stored in the selected preset. And if you don’t use standard tuning or want something that’s not on offer, you can construct your own set of Alt tunings, again using the Workbench software." I take that as a yes then. Anything else wouldn't make much sense either. I'd like to be able to blend pickup output from the 1/4" jack (to an amp) and modelled output from the VDI jack (to another amp or a PA) while I'm tuned to open D or G or whatever. So obviously both signals need to be in the same physical pitch.
  2. ...or can you workbench your way to any alternate tuning (physically) you prefer? Which the Variax brain will then recognize and model (digitally) without any issues, hopefully. thanks, best regards
  3. BREAKING NEWS: Sorted! with the magical ClyphX controller surface from http://beatwise.proboards.com/thread/992/current-version-clyphx-live-8 Check it out, he tweaks out any parameter, from more or less any controller, as he pleases: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHQR8EvqRyA Keep on rocking in the free world
  4. In the POD Studio™ & TonePort™ MIDI Setup Guide (pdf, page 35) it is described how to accomplish this in Sonar through its native ACT MIDI Controller Plug-in. It works! Sending momentary CC 14/15 messages, mapped to the Sound Select buttons on KB37 cycles up and down the tracks, so f.ex. rotary 1 changes from track 1 Volume to track 5 Volume and so on. How can this be done in Ableton Live (or another DAW)? Is there a similar MIDI stand-alone plugin that can route and map MIDI out from KB37 and send the preferred values to a DAW? Or a plugin program that can route Bank change messages into KB37? In my dreams this could be done from a footswitch that cycles through Banks on the KB37. I checked the Novation Launc Control, its factory Bank/preset switch changes MIDI channels (I'd prefer not to keep that 80€ box). Ableton can also send Bank/program change messages from a MIDI clip, which needs to be launched on its own, which could be done from a any mapped keyboard shortcut. ClyphX for Live 8 and 9 (The Beatwise Network) seems to be the advanced approach. It must be a general setup issue for other MIDI keyboards/controllers without a native Bank/preset switch or for controlling external synth hardware. Hopefully someone has shared a KB37 controller script for Ableton during the last 10 years. I am a (16) bit MIDI overwhelmed but will boldly research further ! :)
  5. Hi, Some MIDI keyboards have a bank or preset change function on the keyboard itself, KB37 have it in the software. I'm searching for a method to change the assignment of KB37 buttons and rotators on the fly, without opening the Line 6 Audio-MIDI Control Panel. For example to map the 4 rotators to volume for track 1-4 in preset 1, 5-8 in preset 2, etc. Is it possible to do so via MIDI bank/program change? As in: can the KB37 accept a incoming MIDI bank/program change event? Would be awesome! This guy shows the method with a VST synth, which got me hoping it could be done with a MIDI controller as well: MIDI Clips to change Bank and Program values in Ableton Live - YouTube thanks, all the best
