I run into this every time I upgrade my computer. It seems only 3 active devices are allowed so I need to deauthorize old devices before I can get the plugin to open successfully. Open the Line 6 License Manager application. Click the link for My Devices under the Web menu. Deauthorize old devices so there are a maximum of 3 with an "X" in the Deauthorize column (these are the active authorized devices)

I use the SoundSculpture FootSim with my HX Effects to control my Peavey Classic 100 head and Classic 50 combo channel switching/reverb. The onboard EXT control of the HX did not work with these amps. It was a bummer to need an additional device for my setup, but the FootSim has worked flawlessly for my rig.
