tyocham01
Greetings, There are few times each year where I travel off the mainstream grid for days & weeks at a time. During these trips I usually have ample time to practice & write, but without electricity, I've always been limited to acoustics and battery power. I've recently decided to rectify the situation and bought a really handy "Traveler" guitar, so that bit has been remedied. Now I'm needing some sort of a battery powered solution for actually hearing the thing. I've considered many different options, Including the "Pocket Pod", which is probably the way I'll end up going. But while I wait for the right prices on the used market, I started looking into ways to utilize Helix Native. I've been googling most of the day and really haven't found any acceptable answers for or against being able to implement it. The more I think about it, the more I'd like to nail down some sort of helix solution just to stay consistent with the studio. Plus, if you're using Helix Native, you're using a DAW, which gives you recording and other nice benefits... so... has anyone around here ever tried to implement helix native in a manner that would work off the grid for several days at a time? I have a 20K mAh battery with a 28W solar pannel for keeping it charged, which has functioned really well for keeping my phones, AA & AAA batteries charged, tablets / devices, etc... I was thinking about maybe a Microsoft surface, or other win10 tablet with a usb audio interface. But these bring up several questions I've been hard pressed to find answers for, like can you charge the surface, or any other tablet, with the 20K battery? do the Tablets have enough horsepower to run Helix native and a DAW like Reaper or Cakewalk without huge latency? etc... Basically, anyone out there tried anything like this yet? and if so, at what price point all in? -Tobin
