Crackling won't go away

I have everything up to date (I'm running Catalina)

I used to get a crackling sound once in a while for the last few years running the PodStudio uX2 but I would restart and it would go away.

Now it seems restarting repeatedly won't help anymore.

 

Anyone else having this issue?

And solution or workaround?
