Advice on POD Go IR's and live sound...

Greetings everyone! I finally got around to really diving into my POD Go unit more lately, and have been enjoying the sound very much. What I am trying to do now is get the best possible live sound through my Peavey 6505+ head and 4X12 cabinet. So far I have had the best luck simply running the "amp out" from the POD into my Peavey head's return loop and it sounds great most the time depending on the presets I'm using.

What I started looking at recently were different IR options, and before doing the proper research to see there were tons online for free- I bought this package here on Line 6's website thinking at the time they would be compatible for my POD Go. Can anyone tell me if I can use these or should I try for refund?  Additionally- how do most of you connect your POD Go to an amp stack?

Is there a particular set of IR's I can use that would be best utilized for my stack? Thanks in advance for any advice you may have. Here is what I just bought -

well if i had that setup... ide only use the pod go in 4 cable method...assuming you like and or love the built in distortion of that amp..then its 4 cable for effects only......if not its pod go mono out to your amps return.....or amp out in pod go to your amps return......and ir's are only for recording and playing through headphones and powered monitors...frfr amps ect....and if you use the pod go into your amps return make sure you shut off all cab sims on every preset you use or make...there like ir's and are not for real amps and cabinets...and since you have a tube amp you can also take advantage of just using the pod go preamp modeling into your tube power amp section as well....you have many options to explore now

Thanks a lot for the input! I used to have a BOSS GT-100 that taught me what the 4 cable method was all about. I haven't personally tried it with my Pod Go yet because I actually do not like the distortion sounds from my Peavey tube heads. Specifically the XXX head is what I use the most as it has the nicest/newest tubes installed and thicker clean channel- but I just keep that amp on the clean channel, and from there the "amp out" on the Pod Go goes into my return loop there on the amp. What you described about turning off the cab sims on every preset when playing into an amp like mine. Could you explain how I'm supposed to do that? I don't quite understand what that means, (do you mean disable/remove the cabinet portion of the effects signal chain?) -

And thanks for the explanation on how the IR's are used, that makes sense that they would serve better in a recording application. I probably won't do much recording with this Pod Go as I'm pretty hooked on Neural DSP's plugins for recording right now, but I am interested in getting versatile tones loaded up in the Pod Go and playing through my tube amps (including my smaller Fender Vaporizer 2x10 amp that I practice at home with). Really appreciate your time take care!

you just click the icon above the cabinet and that shuts it off then save it...done....and yeah run either.... amp out from pod go to your amps return.... or left mono out from the pod go to your amps return...then no knobs on your amp will work....they can all be turned down....then when you make presets use the preamp models only of the amp you choose...you have tube power so you dont need to use the poweramp-preamp modeling combined....its really easy  to figure out...its all in the owners manual....and just ask us lol tc n gl
