espechemode
I have an original Vetta head updated with 2.50 firmware. Everything works great on it. I recently got a Line 6 FBV Shortboard MKII for the Vetta. It works great. But one issue I'm having is that I can't get it to A/B between two amps in one patch properly. The 'Function 2' switch on the FBV does indeed work to switch between amps, but it always leaves Amp 2 on. When pressed it puts Amp 1 in 'stand-by' and leaves Amp 2 on, but when pressed again it turns Amp 1 on and still leaves Amp 2 on. What I want it to do is what is stated in the Vetta manual: "AMP 1 OR 2: If only Amp 1 is on, stepping on the Amp 1 switch will toggle Amp 1 off and Amp 2 on. This allows A/B box style instant amp switching." The above excerpt is clearly referring to the Longboard which has separate Amp 1 and Amp 2 footswitches. My ultimate question is simply, can the Shortboard FBV MKII perform this same function using the 'Function 1' and 'Function 2' switches? So far I have not been able to make it work. I've checked all the internal settings on the Vetta (footswitch, output, system settings, etc) and I can't figure out what the issue is. I even downloaded the Line 6 FBV Control software, and while it does let me change settings on the FBV, once plugged into the Vetta it seems to revert to whatever the defaults are for the Vetta. If anyone has experience with this and can help it's much appreciated. This is literally the only thing keeping the Vetta/Shortboard combo from being perfect for my uses. espechemode
Upon further digging, I found several posts which stated that the FBV Control is only to configure its use with external MIDI devices. So that makes sense as to why the changes I made had no effect on the Vetta. Still don't understand why the 'Function 2' switch on the FBV Shortboard won't properly A/B between amps. If that's "just how it is" then it was a glaring oversight by L6. Guess I'm going to have the get a Longboard which apparently seems to be able to A/B correctly. Bummer.
