RunDMG
Hello everyone. Has anyone had success getting the Carillon model (Chime A) to sound more Voxy? I find the model to sound too smooth, not harsh or cutting enough. The Youtube video comparing a Catalyst to a real AC15 shows as much. The closest I've come is as follows. Boost: 55% - This adds some of the requisite harshness. Getting the chime with gain just sounded way too smooth. Gain: 25% Bass: 30% Mid: 50% Treble: 68% Presence 60%
steve_rolfeca
I guess this is cheating if you want to do everything in the box, but I like the way my Bad Cat Siamese Twin (Klon-ish dual drive pedal) sounds in front of the Chime model. Have you played with the bias and sag? The nice thing about modelled tube amps, is that extreme settings won’t actually hurt anything. I like to go the other way by increasing the sag when I want a spongey, less dynamic pick attack, but you can balance that by bumping the presence and treble. abuislam
Great question! Try raising the gain to 35-40%, lowering the bass, and adding some reverb for chime. An overdrive pedal before the amp might also help add that Voxy bite. Let me know how it works!
