The high end of the Spider IV series was way better "logically" designed than the Spider V series !!!

Despite the fact that the high end of the Spider V series had obvious features that the Spider IV didn't have, the high end of the Spider V series was "logically designed" with more "show off" than clever and skillful programming attention.

- Example : The echo/delay effects -
On the Spider IV, for any chosen echo/delay effect, you could assign a TIME value and an option to either use the TAP TEMPO or not (fixed TIME, or variable TIME depending on the TAP TEMPO _ option TAP "Control" or "Don't Ctl"), and in both these cases (fixed TIME or TAP TEMPO controlled) the whole TIME RANGE of the echo/delay was available.
It's NOT THE CASE with the Spider V, as you can only access the whole TIME RANGE of the echo/delay when you select a fixed TIME (when the NOTE option at the right side of the upper TIME BAR isn't checked). When you check the NOTE option which allows you to use the TAP TEMPO to control the TIME, then the TIME RANGE is GREATLY LIMITED by the NOTE option that you've chosen:
Let's say you've chosen to have a fast 95ms SLAP-BACK echo TIME as a "default value" when you switch to your preset but you still want to control the TIME with the TAP TEMPO, you can only reach to this 95ms echo TIME "default value" by selecting a NOTE from "eighth note triplet" or shorter, and at "eighth note triplet", with a TAP TEMPO going from 30 to 240, you can only go from an echo/delay TIME ranging from 83ms to 667ms ... WHAT THE F*! ... and the rest of the whole TIME RANGE capabilities of the echo/delay goes OUT THE WINDOW.
My little echo pedal will take whatever TEMPO that I TAP, all through the TIME RANGE of its possibility.
The only reason the Spider V is LIMITED in TIME RANGE when using TAP TEMPO is because "We want to show to the world that we only talk to musicians who read music! OH MY GOD! We're sooooo professional! And therefore we render TAP TEMPO and whichever effect you need to use with it pretty much useless or REALLY LIMITED".
On top of that, if you use the TAP TEMPO with another NOTE setting than quarter note (♩), the resulting echo TIME will differ from the TEMPO that you'll TAP which is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE when you play live and TOTALLY COUNTERINTUITIVE.
MY ADVICE : Leave the echo/delay parameters with the milliseconds TIME reference, and add a TAP TEMPO ON/OFF option! ... And you don't erroneously program a "pseudo intellectual" cheesy logic that limits the TIME RANGE of the effect when using the TAP TEMPO.
So in the current state of the Firmware, if I want to program a preset to have a "Beatles type" 30ms SLAP-BACK, and then go to a long echo for something specific tone just by tapping the tempo and then having the possibility to go back to the "default TIME setting" of the preset just by calling the preset again (let's say with a FBV Shortboard MkII ...), well, NO CAN DO.
And it's just a typical Firmware programming issue.

On the Spider IV you can directly write parameter values in the presets when using the "Spider IV edit" software ... I mean, with a little getting used to it, I could parameter a preset in no time ... AND everything was in just ONE PARAMETERS WINDOW (no paging through options and options just to have the illusion that "you have a lot").
You could at least make the parameters' values accessible to directly write values into, click/type/enter/done.
And if you're "clever boys", you come up with a tiny additional "Spider V Remote LIGHT" where EVERYTHING is in "just one window" (no paging, no little amps and effects photos, just devices names to choose from scrolling lists, and values to enter).

On the Spider IV you have a PRE and POST BOOST, and I have BOOST programmed on all my Spider IV presets, sometimes I GUN the tone into more drive and slightly raise the output, sometimes I only raise the output, I have all the choices I want to solo over a song without sacrificing an effect or 2 which have to be dedicated to that task when the BOOST option is gone ... on the Spider V this option is GONE.
MY ADVICE : You have the built in COMP (compressor) on the Spider V, then you can program a Firmware where you add PRE&POST BOOST to the COMPRESSOR parameters and add the options on the "Spider V Remote" software, the PRE BOOST being actually just MODIFYING the DRIVE/INPUT VOLUME parameter of the AMP and the POST BOOST being just MODIFYING the overall LEVEL of the preset (just parameters, nothing to add to the "machine").

When you're using the "Spider V Remote" software, the software doesn't keep the "last folder" where you saved the presets ... every time you have to save your presets or bundle you need to navigate your PC to get to it ... and most people don't usually put EVERYTHING on the DESKTOP of their computers, they tend to use the Windows folders to sort of keep their PC clean and tidy. Well, update the Spider V Remote in order for it to remember the "safeguard folder".

OR ... make it all OPEN SOURCE, and let us deal with the programming of the AMP onboard Firmware and the Spider V Remote (before someone decides to crack into it).
Why not? It's probably discontinued anyway, and there are surely a whole bunch of nerds (like me) who would love to spend a night or two re-programming stuff around.

Here is a summary image of the TAP TEMPOS you can address with the corresponding TIME RANGES. Away from the quarter note setting (♩), you don't get the ECHO at the velocity you TAP TEMPO it, and of course 'cause it's depending on the NOTE duration you select.
Now, if you really are a good musician, you should be able to TAP the correct note duration by yourself, no matter which note duration you want (dotted quarter, eighth triplet, etc, etc).
The REAL solution to that big issue is to program a new Firmware where you ADD A NEW 15TH OPTION to the existing LIST OF ALREADY PROGRAMMED NOTE OPTIONS, and that NEW OPTION is "NO NOTE" just "WHAT YOU TAP IS WHAT YOU GET" with TIME ranging from 20ms to 2s (you probably may never be able to TAP faster than around 80ms - 90ms anyway, at least not with your foot, 90ms to 110ms is about the SLAP-BACK you'd use in Rockabilly for instance).
