jkante
Probably a stupid question, as this is the first amp I've bought in around 14 years (Line 6 or otherwise), but I just got a used Spider V off Ebay without even knowing there was a Mark II. Just updated the firmware to 2.05 and was wondering if it's now a mark II, as I've read it's essentially a firmware update. I'm only asking since the patch notes given on the updater didn't list anything substantial being added. This could just be because the amp was previously updated (I didn't note what version it was at when I first plugged it into the updater.) Also, is it normal for the amp to take a few secodns to start up? I never noticed this with other amps I've owned (the last one being a Fender G-Dec.) Bill-Hanna
This should help. The Spider V series has seen several firmware updates over the years, each bringing new features and improvements. Here's a general timeline: Initial Release: The Spider V series was launched with firmware version 1.0, introducing its core features like amp modeling, effects, and USB recording. Firmware 1.5: This update refined the amp models and effects, improving sound quality and adding new presets. Firmware 2.05: Released in 2019, this update introduced the "Classic Speaker Mode," improved presets, added preset labeling, and integrated cloud features for sharing tones via Line 6 CustomTone. Spider V MKII Update: This software update allowed original Spider V amps to be upgraded to MKII specs, enhancing functionality and sound quality. Also, is it normal for the amp to take a few seconds to start up? - Yes, it has always taken a few seconds for my Spider V 60 MKII to start up.
