So, I had updated both parts of my G10, one failed, was left with non-functioning brick with red pulsing lights. I opened a ticket, followed their 'try again' instructions, different cable, different computer etc, and was eventually referred to the service center in the UK (and they confirmed that although well out of warranty, there would be no charge to me). They don't list an email address which is odd these days, but I rang them, got the address to send my unit to. COVID19 lockdown happened while it was in the post, they shut, they then returned weeks later and found a Post Office card through their door, assumed it had been returned to sender. A few weeks later I chased it up online, saw it was still in their local mail depot, arranged redelivery. Sorted. A week after that fuss, I got a call today to say that a replacement unit is being sent out. Let's see if it's my old one back from the dead (don't think so, they said replacement), same model with new firmware and bad battery life, or something new that will perform as it should... I am NEVER updating this thing again!
So don't throw them away, do open a ticket and see what happens.

I also tried opening a ticket. They ask you to try updating again, then direct you to the service centre for your country for a replacement. I have replied asking them to confirm that as everything worked prior to the 'required' update, that this will not be chargeable. Waiting for their reply. I'd also have been happy to downgrade the FW, i mentioned that but no response on that suggestion as expected. If they want me to pay for the replacement I'll switch to another brand - everything I've ever had from Line6 has ended up unsupported or incompatible with newer OSes sooner or later.
Response from Line6 today - replacement will be free. So worth opening a ticket in that case.

If you never had any heat issue, just don't do it! It will kill the battery life down to 50%, and you can't go back from there.
Thanks - wish I'd seen those threads before I ran the updater! Transmitter now won't pair to receiver. Guess it's ticket time. Either they fix it, or I get hold of an older FW file for the receiver and reflash, or I'm switching to another brand...

Received the email and ran the updater. Receiver has updated, but the transmitter update gets to about 90% and then fails - I've followed the instructions to the letter, and tried on both Mac and Windows, same result. What next? Had the G10 for several years and haven't had any issues at all. Transmitter is on 1.02

Yeah that's what I'm expecting. Better than a dead brick, though, and should tide me over to decide on an upgrade!
