Is it not intuitive to be able to use a preamp and an amp at the same time? Seems like a bug to me. Is there a way to fix it?

Dear Line 6, I cannot figure out how to use an amp and a preamp at the same time using Pod farm 1.12. When I try to add a preamp to a setup with an amp, it replaces the amp. This is not the case when I use the Pod farm 2 trial. How can I get it to work? Thanks.
