Hey guys, new Helix owner running direct to the PA/studio monitors. My old rig is a TC Electronic G-system with an avid Eleven rack. I run wet/dry with that rig so that in my in ears I can pan my dry guitar center and my delays/verbs to one side (I'm at the far end of the stage so it leaves room in my mix for other instruments and vocals to the other side).
I am really digging the tones a lot, but the lack of a "kill dry" function like the TC has is an issue for how I want to run things. I want to run a slapback delay (always on), as well as a timed delay and a spring reverb (which both need to be switched in and out). I would prefer to be able to use all three at once occasionally, but I can settle for being able to use the slapback delay and either the timed delay OR the reverb.
Right now I've settled for putting the slapback delay on the "dry path", and the timed delay with the mix at 100% in the parallel path with a gain block to mute the parallel path, since bypassing the delay will allow the dry signal on the wet path. I have the timed delay ouput level assigned to the expression pedal, or I would just assign that to a footswitch to bypass it. I would prefer to have both delays come from the "wet" output instead of slapback delays on the "dry" and timed on "wet". I'm doing without reverb for now, but there are a couple of tunes I really need it for. Obviously I would like to have the reverb on the "wet" output also.
Any Ideas for workarounds? I would like to avoid using snapshots for now, as I prefer a pedalboard/instant access layout to turn thing on and off, and I really don't want to be switching between modes if I can avoid it. Also, I double on lap steel so the second stereo path is dedicated to that rig with it's own amp and effects.
