  1. Hey guys. I bought a variax 700 acoustic in mint condition off the internet. And I must say, it sounds very ordinary. The models are thin and dull. Not an authentic acoustic sound at all. Some settings sound almost 'bell' like. I'm running it direct in to reaper and I'm not impressed at all. I have a 1st gen 300 electric model (no pickups) and the acoustic sounds in that sound way better than the 700 acoustic model. Is there something I'm missing? Or were the acoustic models a major screwup, hence why they stopped making them. As I said, I'm just using the guitar direct in to reaper or straight in to my mixing desk to play live through a P.A. (powered speakers) and it sounds very average. I've seen many other posts were guys are using an x3 or helix to get their sounds right. But I'm not using an x3, hd500 or helix floorboard just the guitar. I shouldn't need to use the boards. The guitar should sound great without it. I do have a vetta II amp with the variax input. But I can't see the benefit of usings these unless I'm wanting to add reverb or delay. Not using them to process the sound. The guitar shouldn't need hardly any processing. Is there something I'm missing here?? Or were these models useless and should be binned?? Any advice would be appreciated, because at the moment, this thing is just a hunk of junk
