  1. Thanks for the quick reply. I'm away from my room at the moment and honestly can't recall if the patch used a cab out not. The patch I'm using is one from a guy called Jason sadites and it's called toysintheattic (aerosmith) cab be found here https://line6.com/customtone/profile/jaysadites/ The power cab is set to flat.
  2. Hi all. Still getting to grips with this tech. When I record via usb from Helix you MacBook. I'm issuing garage band at the moment to mess around and tinker. The helix is also output to the power cab plus.. my patch sounds pretty good in the speaker. But if I record then play back from the MacBook to the same speaker, the guitar sounds extremely tinny and lacking bass. What am I missing please?
  3. Hi all. Brand new owner, so go gently. Connected my helix to the PC+ via Link AES cable thingy Can hear my guitar nice and loud through the PC+ but when I connect the PC+ to my macbook via USB, use either garage band or Studio one 4, the level of the incoming signal is very very low. I can't find anywhere to boost this. Any tips from the pro's most welcome..... thanks
  4. OK. It seems better today. I've put the PC+ on virtually full and the helix patch I've upped the master (i think it was).. But boy did I get a shock when I connected the PC+ to my macbook to see how to record etc. I forgot the amp volume was up full and my output from the macbook was pretty much full. I played My Chemical Romance through the cab.. VERY loud. lol Thanks all for the support. There is going to be loads of questions.. most of them pretty obvious and maybe stupid. So please bear with me.
  5. Hi all, Apologies mod's if this is in the wrong section, but I'm unsure if the Helix needs a tweak, the powercab needs a tweak or both.. hence I posted here. I'm new to the helix and my powercab plus arrived last night. I'm connected by the bright blue (why this colour) AES link cable to the cab. With the cab on 3/4 volume and the helix nearly at half, the sound is still quite low. Is there a setting I've missed or perhaps should have set up before rushing ahead as I tend to do with everything i buy.. too eager to just get going. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
  6. I'm running Mojave with my new Helix, so far.. fingers crossed... no issues but there again, being relatively new to all this, I'm not pushing the technology from either side just yet.
  7. Who knows. If my day job fails I may have to turn to my guitar playing to earn an income.. lol.. Wish me luck because I would need it..
  8. Ok. I decided to go for the line 6 power cab plus. It arrives tomorrow, won't have time to play with it until Friday/ Saturday.. will pass on my comments... looking forward to having a play around..
  9. Parfitt's tone is really very basic, Marshall JCM800 with a Roland GP8 giving analog chorus and a bit of drive from the amp itself. He also uses a VOX AC30 that is packed away in a flight case behind the back row, mic'ed to the front to give him the thud.. I've tried my best to replicate it using the Helix and failed every single time.. but I suppose thats the whole fun of the Helix
  10. Ah, you have met the neighbours then? lol Ok thanks for the inputs. Going to look at monitors and the line 6 powercab plus. i will come back and tell you what I did and more importantly, why and my impressions...
  11. Thanks for this input. I've considered the line 6 power cab plus but was worried about the high power/driving of the unit to get the best out of it..
  12. Hi All, Brand new Helix owner. Still getting to grips with the unit and it's abilities. Never used a modeller before, so as you may appreciate... information / learning overload. Let me preference this thread by stating that I am not a professional player, in fact, after nearly 40 years of playing the guitar as a hobby, I've only played on stage once and that was a LONG time ago. This is literally a hobby for me. I play in a small practise room. I have a tele standard and Gibson SG. I play all sorts of stuff, mostly rock.. dare I mention Status Quo? I know,I know.. but I'm old.... give a guy a break.... Now my question: I have this fabulous Helix floor kit.... I can dial this, dial that, sound like this sound like that.... by the way.. none of that makes me sound any better. lol... I need practise and lots of it. I really need a new amp to practise with. Currently using a Blackstar value amp HT-5 running at 3/4 with the Helix plugged into the input.. don't want anything too powerful.. really don't have the room to crank it up. But I also need to be able to drive it enough to give me the crunch etc... I've looked into FRFR stuff, but everyone I've looked at is rated at 200/400w min.. I think FRFR cab sounds interesting for the geek in me but would I get the most of it when all I really need is a plug and play option.. So.. open to ideas and suggestions. Budget up to, maybe just over if I had to £600 Which amp / FRFR cab would you guys and gals suggest please. Thanks in advance for any suggestions and help.....
