  1. Has anyone found out what causes this? I'm not going to spend $100++ to have the pedal repaired. I can do it myself, if someone can just point me in a direction as to where the component(s) that are failing and causing this may be. I've seen many other posts on the web about this issue with white noise and static, and how it can abruptly occur. Thank you.
  2. I have a DL-4 and I think the EPROM may be bad. Does Line 6 sell EPROM chips? If not, you should. You owe it to your customers for the amount of issues DL-4s have. Thanks!
  3. Hi. I've had a good track record with fixing dead DL-4s, I hope I can help. Usual Disclaimer*** --- I'm not responsible if you mess up your DL-4. A common issue is the EPROM chip not sitting right in the socket. You have to take on the back plate, you should see the little chip in the socket, on the PCB. It should say "V1.3" or something like that on the sticker. Give it a press to see if it can do any further into the socket. Don't apply too much pressure. Don't put the back plate on, leave it off. Try the hard reset again - A + D while powering, or better yet; have the power connected and then insert the Mono Input. Try that a few times. If that doesn't work: Get a small flat head screwdriver - I mean really small, what someone would use for repairing watches. You'll need to take the EPROM chip out of the socket, inspect it, maybe clean the socket with contact cleaner, and then reinsert the chip. In the upper right and bottom left of the socket, you'll see small openings. Put the screw driver there and slowly work at each corner of the chip, in the locations mentioned, to pry it out. BE VERY GENTLE. Try what I said about and then reinsert the chip. Try the hard reset. Sometimes I had to try it a few times but that has often done the trick. If that doesn't work, it may be a power issue which takes more troubleshooting as well as taking the pedal apart and having a Digital Multimeter to test the voltages. I hope you resurrect it!1
