Thanks very much for your help. I will go away and try a few things.
The noise is consistant whether plugged in to same power strip or differenct supply source. I will try in the PA and see what the results is.
I agree with you, though, its definatetley the gain factor which amplifies; but it is really instrusive. I have tried noise gating it out, but this turned it to a loud hiss (which, granted, may be a reflection of the gate rather than anything else). I've also put the gate post pre-amp - but have to max out the threshold to overcome. Live, the way I contol it is to step out of gain channel at any point where I am not playing - rolling the guitar volume off isn't an option. Just plugging a lead straight from guitar to amp cures all - but its not what I'm looking for.
