how do i hook up expression pedal to m9 pls help

that was the reason,,i tried another pedal and it worked,,thank you -
i have a m9 and a ernie ball vp jr pedal,i have tried ever you tube and manual to use this pedal to hook it up,nothing works i canot make it work,i have tried ever setting in the startup..there is got to be something am over looking somewhere,,thanks for any help
