I am having some issues with proxy clones. I have a lot of them and I should be able to import all of them into my Helix Stadium without any issues. I have been having the wi fi disconnecting issues which I believe was part of my issues mid transfer using the Helix app I believed if I was getting a disconnect mid transfer it would corrupt my device in ways where proxy clones would not show up or disappear completely. Same with impulse responses. I have had to start from scratch re importing my clones only to find out that when I search the clones on the actual unit itself there are a bunch missing from the list, however when I look at the Helix app, the clones are there and are able to load.
There are times if I load a proxy clone into the database it never shows up at all and the only remedy is to either restore from a known good backup and continue from there or factory reset. I for the life of me cannot get everything loaded on the helix at any given time without there being something that doesn’t work properly where I have to reset it again.
Connecting my device using USB to Ethernet has helped getting the files transferred without application drop outs so the corrupted incomplete files that could have been the issue has been taken out of the equation for troubleshooting purposes. I know that if I start loading my impulse responses into the device after a certain point (which only feels like 100 or so impulses) the Helix wants to start acting funny. I have been able to keep the device from loading if I store too many impulses into the database. It really should be able to at least house 100 impulses at a minimum.
It is possible that when I bring clones and impulses over there could be something wrong with one of them that could be causing everything else to not work after loading that one file, and it is a pain in the lollipop trying to figure out what that one file could be. I literally feel like the file management of the device needs a lot of work. I don’t know if other people have as many clones loaded into their device as I do, they are not terribly big files to begin with, I feel like the way to manages the files internally needs some work.
There has been times when I cannot see a clone file in any of the folders, but I ca see it on the desktop Helix application that it is showing in those folders, I would conduct a search on the hardware unit itself and sometimes I would be able to reveal the clone that way where it otherwise wouldn’t be visible normally. I feel like the coding on the device did not account for loading a large amount of files. I also feel like the Helix does not like accessing sub folders even though you are able to create them.
my next experiment is to try and completely reformat my sd card and use another card and instead of dragging files from the Helix application, I am going to try and click the import button instead and go from there.
it is a bit frustrating when I cannot load the things I should be able to. It takes hours getting things organized, sorted, etc. some of these presets I have require me to link impulse responses for each one, and it takes time to find the right ones, load them, and then re save them only to find that the Helix wants to no longer see the impulses anymore, which also the same with clones.
Maybe some of the impulse issues are related to my sample rate and bit depth sizes and maybe it doesn’t like some of them or maybe they are not converting properly when importing them. Maybe it is a file name issue, maybe some of the files don’t like certain file name lengths or characters.
what I do know is that the Helix likes very little things loaded on the device. When you start to expand your impulses and clones, weird things start to happen.
we should be able to have more control over creating folders even in the clone import portion where we can see the clones. We should be able to sort and categorize our clones the way we could do for impulses.
Are other people able to load a large amount of clones with all of them showing up? Do you have issues where they won’t load at all or disappear?
ahhh the frustrations.
