  1. No it can't be power switch or supply. They power is being supplied fine - the Line6 logo is illuminated in the LED And the tap button is on, but not flashing. None of the controls work though, and apart from a click from the speaker upon powering up there is silence. Thanks for your sympathy.
  2. I have had my Spider Jam for almost 2 years now, an excellent piece of kit. However, it would cut out and reboot for no reason with increasing frequency. It recently got to the point where it would just continually switch off and reboot and was therefore totally unusable. I have tried all the combinations of SD card issues, but to no avail. So yesterday, I eventually decided that I would open it up and see if there were anything obviously wrong inside. No parts were overheating. I checked all the connections were tight. I even separated a couple of capacitors that were touching, which seemed to me a likely source of trouble. When I put it back together, it seemed to be working fine :D . Had I fixed it? But after 20 minutes of playing it cut out and rebooted  , but did keep going for another 20 minutes before I decided to stop playing and switched off. -_- This morning it was back to switching off and rebooting continuously again  I decided to try reflashing the firmware, as suggested online. I put in a new SD card with the fw.bin file freshly downloaded. Switched on and got the 'rebooting from SD card' message JUST THEN THE SPIDER CUT OUT AND TRIED TO REBOOT!!! I remembered how the instructions for updating firmware stated 'Note: Do not turn off power in the middle of the update!' :( I switched everything off and tried again and once more got the 'rebooting from SD card' message, then SpiderJam logo, and finally Line6 logo..... There the story ends, nothing happens and I am left mourning the coma/death of my pet Spider. It just sits there displaying its Line6 logo proudly, unable to do anything :( My nearest Line6 service centre is a few hundred miles away in another country. Has anyone any ideas how I might bring the Spider back to life?
  3. Maybe the OP will mark his question ANSWERED!
  4. Good tip Brazzy. I have alays turned the amp off 'just in case', but will certainly use your method from now on.
  5. Format your SD card in the Spider Jam first. Then do as Brazzy said. It will work fine.
  6. No one? Okay, how about a chord progression to underline the Eb key?
  7. Because mankind's imagination is always beyond his capability. We can never quite manage to achieve what we can imagine. Artists (which includes Musicians) are all too familiar with this difficulty. But business is happy to pay to create products that aren't quite up to the vision that the original Designer's had in mind. Sad reality, and hence almost nothing works as it was intended to.
  8. Anyone want to lay a lead over this and post it back? International Jam? EBM_RECO.WAV
  9. How do I delete a post that I hadn't meant to send?
  10. "I've been seasoned with a lifetime of annoyances." :D I like that! Why doesn't stuff just work?

    jam2wav

I have a whole lot of jam files on SD cards. I want to convert them on my Mac to wav files. I have read about Joe Gillespie's jam2wav converter which was free. However I can not find a download of this anywhere. His site http://www.vettaville.nl doesn't seem to work anymore. Anyone know how to get the converter?
  12. Thanks for the reply Brazzy. You seem to be making great use of the Spider and the Pod to really explore the possibilities out there. Have you been playing a long time? One of the things I most like about the SJ is how easy it is to get stuff down at any moment. Before I got the SJ, when I had an idea, by the time I get the computer on, everything hooked up and GB or Logic running the inspiration had died, whereas I only have to flick the on switch and play with the SJ. Built in recording for an amp is the best idea ever. I can't understand why all amps don't have it, other than expense. I love the looper most of all. My only problem is having the discipline to stop myself from putting on too many layers and ending up with a mush of sound.
  13. Hi fellow spider jammers, I had the same trouble as a lot of posters on here with the SJ rebooting for no apparent reason. Today I just took out the 2GB Sandisk SD card, switched off waited a while. Then switched on without the card, did a little looping etc without the card in the SJ. Then I put the card back in and it all works fine again. I know that this is primarily a site for technical problems, but it would be nice if there was more discussion of the music we use our Spiders for, influences, other equipment etc. Anyone agree? I play a couple of Gibson Studios and am into Classic Rock. I spend most of my time playing my own material and am influenced by Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, ZZ Top, Dire Straits, Bowie, and many more.
  14. I suppose I must be the only one :( However, I love my Spider Jam :D I am using it to be a one man band and recording to SD card. Beats the hell out of the hassles of connecting to a computer!
