1/4 into the powered speaker solved the issue I was having. That's for the idea on that one!
-
Good call didn't think to try 1/4 into the powered speaker. What made me double take most what the huge boost in volume when switching channels, so that suggested to me there might be something limiting the volume on the patch, but I've tried making entirely new patches with the same problem.

I am currently connecting my HD500x with XLR left out mono to a powered 12" floor speaker wedge. I have read some posts here talking about signal/volume drops when connecting through XLR. I would accept that to be the case with me except when I have it connected USB and have HD Edit open, when switching patches, the volume spikes to that of what I would expect the volume to be. I have the Master itself and my speaker cranked. Only way I can get it even close is to crank the mixers all the way up to get it even close. Is there something limiting on there that gets shut off for a second when I am switching patches when connected via USB?

Is it possible to run a Wah in the FX loop and have that effect in the front of the chain? I was thinking to hook it up this was so I can leave the wah on and just activate the FX loop on a lead patch and be ready to go.

Well said! A lot of my struggle is "what is a live guitar supposed to sound like?" Only things I can really try to focus on is I guess what I would call harshness and trying to get rid of it without sacrificing dynamics.

God no wonder I couldn't figure this out! Thanks for the advice I'll play with this some tonight.
-
OH! I was expecting to see more blocks added under the controller area. I'll try this out thanks guys!

I think I've got that part, but now say on top of that Tube Drive I also want to control an EQ parameter. Is that possible?
-
I was able to figure out how to assign an effect to the exp through the controllers tab. Using an EQ and rolling everything off seems to get the effect I was lookign for. I still can't for the life of me figure how to to keep assigning multiple effect to that one exp patch though =(.

Talking to me too cause I'm interested in this one
-
What do you all think of these tones?
-
Not the same thing I know, but I'm a long time POD XT user (bean style). May sound terrible, but using that I felt I could get the guitar to talk under my fingers though not great tone I struggled there as I do now to get those dynamics I'm seeking under your fingertips. Best example I can think of is like an Andy TImmonds sound or a sweet home Alabama type where you just have the right amount of breakup going on, but the tone still pops.

Can the exp pedal be controlling more than one effect at once?
-
Ah exactly what I was also looking for! I'm going to rent a powered speaker this weekend to try to get this setup better for a PA environment since my computer speakers aren't the way to go. Be cool to have some of these as a reference to what sounds good live in a mix. Thank you!
-
I'm more trying to get some ideas on how to emulate how when the guitar comes back in there is an effect like it's rolling back off the tone knob while the volume is increasing. I can use the exp pedal for the volume, but i haven't been able to come up with any type of tone type swell.

Unless my searching powers are not strong I haven't seen any dates for a US purchase. ANyone happen to know when stores will have this bad boy?
-
Ha so true, that might be what it is.
-
I'm sure that sounds better live in the room also. Only word I can think of is a bit lifeless if that makes any sense. It sounds accurate, but just missing something.
-
Thank you all for the insight here and for the clip jandrio perfect examples I was looking for!!!! I'm a very long time POD XT user and still currently use it for home practice, so I'd have to say I'm very familiar setting that up at least. I'm trying to get the "feel" factor out of my head because a lot tube amps esp when poorly mic'd ones can have the same problem.

I just got a gig with a new cover band that currently uses HD500s. Of course now that the Helix is out there (can this currently be purchased anywhere?) I'm a bot torn on what to do. Are the HDs "good enough" for now to get started to ease in and maybe get a Helix later on? I haven't been able to find any good live videos of people using the HDs. ANyone here know of some good examples to check out?

For anyone that come across this thread please do see the comment made above. This is a lesson learned for myself too to dial in these patches while connected to the PA else it going to sound almost nothing like what you've set up at home. Even with the bass cut almost off it was just too much and everything needed to be backed down quite a bit. This really only affected hi gain channels as the clean sounded great!
-
Thank you for that. Unfortunately they are THX computer speakers with a sub, so I'm HOPING it wont be so drastic I cant fix up the tone a little when I'm setting up. On all my patches so far the bass is pretty much off on the amps. I guess i really need to learn to change this thing on the fly from the pedal rather than the PC to prepare myself. Thanks for the advice.

Well I've purchased an HD500x for an upcoming audition to not have to lug my amp over there (they use HD500's as well). Being I just moved to this from a bean POD XT I'm already pretty impressed. I'm currently trying to dial in sounds running through my computer speakers and I am wondering if there are any setting changes needed to run this through a board into a PA. Also, what dangers I might encounter for how different it may sound.

I'm looking for some ideas to emulate the tone/volume fade in on Moves like jagger. Is there a way to get the expression peddle to control the tone maybe with a flanger in the back? Any idea would be great to help out trying to emulate this like the CD.
