i think this will work for helix to change prests on the G-System i hope G-System Footswitch Bank MIDI Bank Select (MSB) MIDI Program Change A0 thru B9 0 1-100 00 thru 19 1 1-100 20 thru 39 2 1-100 Examples: ï‚· For G-System patch B1-3 The G-System will send out MIDI Bank Select MSB=0 per the table Footswitch banks A0-A9 have 50 presets (10 footswitch banks, each with 5 presets) Footswitch bank B0 has 5 presets The preset we want is the number 3 preset of preset bank B1 So the program change number is 50 + 5 + 3 = 58 The G-System will send out MIDI Program Change = 58 ï‚· For G-System patch 21-4 The G-System will send out MIDI Bank Select MSB=2 per the table o Footswitch bank 20 has 5 presets The preset we want is number 4 of preset bank 21 So the program change number is 5 + 4 = 9 The G-System will send out MIDI Program Change= 9

thats true silly to carry tw0 boards around thats why i would have the g systems presets all set up at home and synced with helix so i can drop them in or out when i choose i have the g system racked so that gives me more room for more effects on helix loops the g system does have some really nice effects so its kinda like different flavours if you like so id only be using the g systems board for programming at home kind of a waste i know may sell futher down the road who knows ? the g system may not sound very good with helix just have to see when i get a helix have to wait till i sell one of my amps tho cheers

heres what i found about the g systems midi capabilities so i think i can achieve what i set out to do l after reading what helix can do midi wise i hope lol MIDI Channel Range: Off, 1 to 16 or Omni When Omni is selected, the G-System receives MIDI information on all channels. When set to Off, the GSystem does not respond to any incoming MIDI data. Program Change In Range: On/Off Determines whether the G-System should respond to incoming MIDI program changes or not. Program Change Out Range: Off/On/On Map This parameter and the Prg. Map parameter concern the MIDI program change information sent on MIDI out when a preset is recalled on G-System. Off: No program changes are sent on MIDI out On: Program changes are sent on MIDI out when presets are recalled. Adjacent to the sent program change, an MSB value is also sent. The MSB (Most Significant Bit=Ctrl#0) followed by a valued is used to select a preset bank on the receiving MIDI device. Note that not all MIDI devices are designed to read the MSB. G-System has 300 preset locations. 100 factory presets and 200 user preset locations When recalling the 100 factory presets in banks A0 to B19, MSB value 0 followed by program changes 0-99 is sent on MIDI out. - When recalling the 100 user presets in user banks 00 to 19, MSB value 1 followed by program changes 0-99 is sent on MIDI out. - When recalling the 100 user presets in user banks 20 to 39, MSB value 2 followed by program changes 0-99 is sent on MIDI out. External MIDI control Recalling Presets from an External MIDI Device To recall a G-System preset using an external device, send a MIDI CC followed by a Program change. Banks are selected using the following parameters: Factory bank: Controller #0: Value 0 User bank 1 to 100: Controller #0: Value 1 User bank 101 to 200: Controller #0: Value 2 thanks and regards paul

thanks guys for the replies i guess its gonna be midi the way to go if i can sync presets that will be cool as i can progrramme the g system on its board then when im happy with them all i can just use the helix as the presets will be synced hopefully ill see what i can find out about midi as ive only used it to change channels on my JVM410 which was quite easy to do im thinking it maybe programme change numbers or the cc values need to read more about it but knowing me bieng a gear head ill proberly just go and get one cheers guys
  5. hi all thinking of diving in with the helix in a nutshell what id like is for helix to controll everthing on Gsystem banks presets effects on/off andf loops on/off both units have cat 5 port not sure if anything could be done here im sure theres stuff i can do midi wise maybe sync banks or presets i think ill still have to programme the G systems effects from the board unless i could do it from helix which would be fab but if not hopefully i can sync up presets and turn things on and off the Gsystem from helix then i can just have one controll board except when editing presets on the Gsystem as helix is awsome i can have any number of effects anywhere in tne signal chain also the send and return anywhere in the signal path which is where the Gsystem would be thanks in advance sorry if i double posted

hi all im thinking of taking the dive with the helix what id like to know is what helix could control on other fx units im currently running a tc electronics g system with some drive pedals i was thinking of adding this to helixs send and return maybe sync presets on helix and G sytem both units have cat 5 dont know if anything can be done here midi wise maybe change banks and presets on the G system from helix i think i would still have to programme effects on the G system controller board unless helix could do it which would be fab save me having two controll boards the G system also has 4 loops im sure i could turn on and off via midi but not sure in a nutshell id like to be able to controll everthing on the G system from helix maybe ill just dive in and have a fiddle about as the helix is an awsome unit thanks in advance
