median

I have the Vetta ii head unit and the screen has gone out on it. I can no longer see anything. It's just orange. I'm finding that it's going to cost about $400 (or so), and 8 weeks of turn around time, to get it fixed. So, now I'm wondering if it would make more sense to put that $400 toward another rig that has the same effects/crazy sounds as the Vetta ii? I'm mostly interested in the weird sounds/FX and/or synth type sounds that are not common.
