Pocket POD power supply question

Hi, When I have batteries installed and an ac-adapter connected to my Pocket POD, from which one of the these two supplies does the pocket POD take the power? What I want to know is if I have to remove the batteries when using the ac-adapter to not drain the batteries? Best Regards Jan
