I plugged into a Fender Bassbreaker, and kept the channel clean, so I could hear the differences. I noticed the differences, but to my near tone deaf ears it was a change in volume & tone that could be accomplished with the knobs on the amp. I've never been a person who could listen to a recording & think, "That's a Les Paul", or "That's a Strat". The whole idea is lost on me, so I gave up and went home. I guess I should have known that before driving 3 hours (round trip) to go check it out.

I went over and tried a JTV-69S this afternoon & decided all those different tones are lost on me, so I cancelled the order for the JTV-89.

I bought it used, but all that came with it is the charging cord. It hasn't shipped yet, so I think I will just cancel the order. I don't want to spend another $100 for a USB interface.

I guess the next question is, will Line 6 provide me with a USB connector? I have a JTV-89, and I'd hate to pay $100 for the adapter.

Is it possible to use a standard ethernet (RJ-45) cable to connect a Variax to a PC and use Workbench? I intend on connecting it directly to the RJ-45 port on my PC.
