  1. Thanks for the comments everyone. I re-flashed the firmware and also reloaded the Shuriken settings bundle and it hasn't changed anything. Meanwhile, the high E string has also now stopped working in variax mode too. I have rung the shop where I bought it and they have asked me to bring it in so their guitar tech can take a look at it. Clarification just FYI, I found that the dead strings do work, it's just that the volume level is really low. The report I wrote before about there being no attack and then a smeared distant sound was just a result of the FX I was running at the time. If I use no FX and just turn the volume way up I can hear the string and the sound it makes is normal, but it's only 10% the volume of the other strings that work properly. Bummer, I waited months for this thing to arrive and now it has to go back. :(
  2. I just picked up my brand new Shuriken Variax yesterday. After I got it home and set it up I found that the B string barely makes any sound when the variax is in modelling mode. This problem persists regardless of which guitar model, model variant or tuning setup is selected. When I pluck the B string, the initial attack of the sound is not heard at all, and then a quiet, smeared and distant tone will slowly fade in as the string rings out. It sounds a bit like when you listen to a reverb on 100% wet. Line 6 Monkey says that I have the latest version of all software and firmware for my Shuriken. I think I am going to try a factory reset next. Does anyone have any ideas for how I could try to resolve this? I am very loathe to have to return my new toy and be without it for days or weeks while it goes back for repair. Thanks, Sam
