  1. Hi! Thanks @craigandertonfor the tips on going to LUFS instead of dBs. What would be a good target to start with? (Fine adjustments then with the band...) I'm currently thinking on changing the setup and I think I've got too loud presets. So, now I would be looking into sending unity gain to FOH mixer. Probably need to change the output to Mic level also. However, what would be good target to reach? Before reading this, I would have thought -12dB could be the max from any preset...
  2. Ok. Answering myself as I finally got something working. Somebody correct me if I'm doing this wrong... First, on Helix Floor (the device, not HX Edit), go to Command Center and and set the EXP2 to (Command) Midi CC and select some channel. (At some point, I only saw cc# values starting from 4 or 5, but I don't remember anymore in which program this was.) Then on Logic, select a track and add Helix Native on it In Native, select the patch with Wah. In Wah controls, select Knob 1 for example as the source. On Logic Pro, select show automation and make sure you are still on the same track Then open Preferences - Automation, click Automation quick access to: On and click learn message. Now it asks to move the wah on Helix floor. After that click done. Set the automation mode to touch and select Helix Native: Knob 1 Now, if you record that track active, it will control and "record" the wah on that automation track and that will control the wah in native For some reason, on other tracks, the wah now controls the volume automation. I'm not sure why. So, somebody correct me if the above is wrong. With this you can still record wet sound from 1/2 and DI from 7 as long as you are active on the track that is recording the 7 as then the volume automation on the wet track is not changed.
  3. Hi! What I'd like to do is record guitar with Helix Floor into Logic Pro X so that I get the wet rough sound from channels 1-2 and DI from channel 7. Then, I'd tweak the sound from DI with Helix Native. That's obviously easy. But is there a way to "record" the Helix Floor expression pedal into automation in Logic Pro? And then use that in Native for Wah control?
  4. Thanks! This sounds like a great method - I'll try this tomorrow.
  5. Yes, this sounds great. However, why would I have 20-25dB or 30dB or whatever? I know I can see the final recording level in GB and set it to something lie -6dB at the most (that's what I try to do also BTW). But as there is no input level monitor on the Helix, how should I set the right gain? Should I run empty signal path to GB and try to set the gain so that I'm around -12 to -6dB without anything, not even the preamp, in the signal path? And then start to add things in there and keep on monitorin the levels? I think it would help so much if the mic input would have a level indicator or at least clipping indicator.
  6. Hi! I have a Rode NT2-A mic that I'm trying to use for recording acoustic guitars. I get sound, but it's very low. So I turn up the mic gain randomly to +30db and I set up a pre-amp to boost the signal chain. However, I'm actually totally lost on how should I set the gain for the mic? How to monitor it? I'm currently just running into GarageBand with USB. What would be the best procedure to set up the gain for the mic? After that is ok, I think I can get rest of the chain levels to suitable level with MLoudnessAnalyzer in in GB.
