Can you change any of the color rings on the "patch" buttons?

I have 2 variaxii one neck is acceptable one is not. My question is: are there two different necks on these instruments, or is it possible one is from a different (earlier) release?

Having the same problem, I found success repairing the problem by soldering a small piece of tin to the third contact, thus making a better connection!
