  1. So no one else thinks it would helpful to be able to navigate from Preset1Snapshot3 to Preset8Snapshot2 without the sound changing in between? Snapshots create the ability to have a huge variety of sound in a single preset. I feel like if theres a certain tone you need for a certain part, the ability to quickly get there in a pinch without audibly cycling through a bunch of different sounds on the way would be really helpful. And it would barely require any new functionality. Just a different scroll mode when in 8snapshot mode.
  2. so I ended up digging out an old zoom exp pedal that ive had since 1998, it went with a zoom 505 pedal i got for my birthday in 10th grade. lo and behold i plugged it into EXP 3 on the helix and it works like a charm to control the delay level, so i'm good. I still would like to figure out global effects though, if nothing else so i could hook up a 3rd exp pedal to use for whammy but not have the whammy in the chain all the time sucking tone.
  3. right. well i guess i assumed that the helix EXP jack was also useable with standard latching style relay switches?
  4. hmm. thats intruiging. i have several old latching amp footswitches lying around, maybe i'll experiment.
  5. Ok, so here's what I'm trying to do: Say I have a preset set up with 8 snapshots of varying base tones....(clean, crunch, gain, more gain, clean-chorus, clean-fuzz, etc) and I want a delay block that i can turn on and off independent of what snapshot im on...is that possible? Basically I want it to function as if I had a seperate delay pedal sitting next to the helix operating independently. Like I like i love running in 8Snapshot display mode, and just selecting the tone I want for whatever part of the song needs or depending on my mood. I have the EXP pedal set up to bring in a 5db boost and add some drive to the kinky boost, AND bring in some global solo-delay all at the same time, so that with one rock of the pedal I can have a SOLO-LEAD version of whatever base tone i'm using. That part works great, but I'd really love to have a seperate delay uncontrolled by the snapshots. I tried doing this by having a 2nd delay block, and assigning a footswitch to toggle it's mix from 0 to 20%, so that as im playing, I could temporarily hop over to stomp mode, turn the delay on, then go back to snapshot mode and keep playing/switch. When I get to a song that I'd prefer delay-less, I'd hope back to stomp mode and turn it off. Unfortunately, it seems that changes made to the mix or effects aren't retained when switching btw snapshots. I realize that there are two behaviors for this, where if I turn the delay on when on my crunch SS, it'll save that way and remember it when i come back, OR it'll discard that save and revert to its original state when i leave and come back, however what I would LOVE is a way to have the delay effect be turned on manually while I'm on my clean SS and still stay on when i go to crunch or gain (regardless of whether those SS were saved with the delay on), and remain on until I go over to stomp mode to deactivate it. Basically I'm trying to eliminate having a standalone delay pedal next to the helix, IF there is a way to mimic the functionality. Any ideas how to do this? Thanks in advance. -Dan
  6. Well that's unfortunate. It seems like that would be an easy thing to program, no? I mean in preset mode you can scroll through banks up and down without the sound changing until you select one, so it seems fair to reason one could, while in snapshot mode, scroll up/down through various presets and have their snapshots show on the main switches, not changing anything until you select one. That would really be special.
  7. Hey all, Just got a helix a couple of days ago and im having a blast. Im trying to best figure out my workflow, coming from using a multiple-bypass switcher. In the past, on my old pxl-live, I could go from preset 1A, browse up to bank 6 and select 6C for example, and the sound wouldn't change until i hit that final button, making my audio relatively seamless even though i had to hit several stomps to get there (but those can be done at anytime in the song, since they dont effect the audio). Is there any way to do this with the helix? Say I'm cruising right along playing various parts in one preset ("dan"). I've got snapshots set up for rhthym/lead/clean/clean lead/etc, but I want to, for a specific part of the song, go to another preset, but specific snapshot tone INSIDE that preset. From the looks of it, I have to use either of a few methods to go up to a different preset, but I can't select the specific snapshot I want until AFTER i select that preset, and that's annoying. So the sound temporarily changes to a sound I don't want, until I quickly select the snapshot I DO want. FYI im finding I prefer to run in the mode that displays all 8 snapshots at once in a given preset. But even if I were to run in the mixed preset/snapshot mode, I think I still have to actively go into a new preset, using it's default snapshot, THEN go to the snapshot I want, meanwhile my sound has already changed for a beat or two Is there no way to navigate and switch to a specific snapshot in another preset without changing the sound until you hit GO? I don't mind hitting multiple buttons if the sounds dont change in the interrim. Maybe I'm missing something. Any help would be appreciated.
