Thanks - I've contacted the reseller and requested an exchange. Yes I started reading about issues with the micro-connector while researching this problem. This will be sitting in the same spot in my study (no gigging), so hopefully it will be resilient enough for me, but I am beginning to wonder whether I should have gone for the Boss WL-50 :0(

Today I took the transmitter off charge, used it for about 90 minutes and the red LED came on, indicating < 30 mins remaining charge. So I put the transmitter back into the base unit and the LED went straight to solid green - indicating fully charged. WTF????

I've just got a new G10 system and have a couple of questions regarding charging: - the transmitter has been in the charger (firmly seated) for about 4 1/2 hours for its initial charge, but the LED is still flashing green (it never went to solid green). The transmitter is also feeling very warm. Is this normal for a first charge? - is it OK to leave the receiver connected to the power supply 24/7 (with the transmitter inserted)?
