Hey everyone, first time poster and I wanted to get some advice regarding my setup.
I purchased an HX Effexts back in October and am really loving it so far. Haven’t gone too deep yet but I’ve got one setup in stomp mode that I’m using with 6 effexts (comp, chorus, phase, fuzz, two delays)
Now that I’ve got a general feel for it, i want to make a small board to add one or two external effects, mainly a wah.
This is where my wormhole begins.
After researching I don’t think I would be satisfied with the expression pedal due to not being able to use the toe switch version to engage. So I’m leaning towards putting my Cry Baby 535 back into rotation. The concern I have with this is the “signal suck” from hooking up multiple pedals. Not only is the Helix pretty much a one stop shop for all the effexts I need, but I only need to run one piece of gear between my guitar and amp. So my first question, is there a discernible difference in signal and tone quality when chaining together multiple effects in addition to the HX?
in a perfect world I would have my wah, a Devi Ever Soda Meiser, and possibly a whammy 4 but I’m leaning towards leaving that out.
Second question, would I be better off running all of this in front of my evh 5153 6l6, or the 4 cable method? So far I’m satisfied with the sound of my delays running everything in front and I can’t quite wrap my head around how to set up the HX using 4CM. This stuff is kind of intimidating coming from running 6-7 pedals in front of my amp to this.
Third question is is regarding power for the board. I’m considering the Vodoo power 2 plus for the outlet to power the helix, plus dedicated power for my other two and the flexibility to add more pedals later on if I choose. Has anyone here had experience with this power unit?
Final question is unrelated, is there a way to copy all 6 of my effects in stomp mode and paste them into another bank? Or do I have to do them all individually?
Sorry this post is so scattered and I’m sure most of these questions have been answered one way or another here, but as I said, I’m pretty overwhelmed right now trying to figure this out and any input/advice would be greatly appreciated.
