Hello I was wondering if anyone can help. I think i'm doing something wrong as all my sounds are compressed and nasty but i feel i'm not connecting it up correctly. So signal chain. Guitar into Helix - Helix connects from the 1/4 mono out in the ID14 Channel 1 (Phantom Power Switched off) From here I'm using Garage Band and when selecting a new track for the Helix I choice record using a microphone or line input. My Input and output source is the Audient id14 I'm using headphones in the ID14 and not the helix. When i record a short piece it sounds like what i'm hearing in the cans so i know its not that. The sound is really compressed and not playable. The garage bands sounds better at the moment! Thanks for any input!

im going to be playing with this more but from reading it seems to be a problem that’s hard to solve. there is a mixer/interface called the Yamaha AG03/AG06 that I might get. It works really well for live streamers and worth watching a few videos what it can do. Seems like a great bit of kit. You can plug the helix and mic into it and run phone into and get audio happening from computer going back in to the mixer which the. Sends it to the other person.

Any one tried this software?

I have this https://www.johnlewis.com/2019-apple-imac-21-5-mrt32b-a-all-in-one-intel-core-i3-8gb-ram-1tb-hdd-radeon-pro-555x-21-5-inch-4k-silver/p4071203 so has a headphone input 3.5mm then USBs and thunderbolt inputs Won’t this do it? https://www.shure.com/en-GB/products/accessories/x2u-xlr-usb-interface it has phantom power then straight to usb? thank you
-
Ok, so get the shure Xlr to usb lead and use a that as a room mic for Skype then use a dedicated interface for recording? now the next thing Is... i don’t have an amp! what’s the best options so when I’m playing electric/bass/acoustic the students can here in ok computer? an actual amp like black stat beam Id core or helix into powered monitors Which would then be used for recording/mixing etc ... or other options? thanks so far!
-
yeah i understand... I guess just mic in the room with guitar and voice seems the best option then interface etc for recording?
-
wow! There is so much to learn! So i'm feeling that the Helix is the problem... What if i just had an audio interface and not used the Helix? Just plugged my guitar or bass or acoustic in depending on the student i was teaching and using the plug ins or garage band to get a basic guitar/amp sound. It doesn't have to be great for teaching i suppose. I was looking at this https://www.andertons.co.uk/audient-id14-usb-interface-w-scroll-control if that looks good. I have just got a sE 4400a mic that i was going to use as room mic.....Would it be good just to get this then? https://www.shure.com/en-GB/products/accessories/x2u-xlr-usb-interface so option A? Is there anyway of hooking my iPhone into the front of the Interface so i can play music off that? Or if i was using the Helix could i not use the aux with my iPhone? Plug all intstruments into helix and iPhone... Then my mic into the interface

Can anyone help? Really wanting to know if I can sync all my sounds from Helix Floor into the Helix Native Software?
-
Hey Guys, So I have a helix floor which i have been using for live work. I'm starting to teach guitar a lot via Skype and i'm now looking at ways to improve audio and visual for the lessons and to start recording and making videos on youtube. So do I use the Helix as an interface so i can plug bass, acoustic, electric and vocals? Or do i buy a separate interface and use Native? Whats more reliable and best quality with less or no latency? I have never tried playing the acoustic through the Helix I was wanting to Mic it up. Any tips on getting a great acoustic sound with the helix? Also if buy the Native package can import all my Helix Floor sounds into it and will this work with Skype lessons?

Hello can anyone send me a screen shot of 2 setups I would like to experiment with... 1. two amp stereo rig. One delay in one amp and one delay in the other, stereo chorus and reverb in both amps. 2. two amps, one amp dry and one amp with reverb, delay, chorus. 3. how does a setup with one amp and effects loop like with reverb, trem, delay chorus look like i think I have got it correct but just wanted to double check.

What’s the best impedance range for the helix then?
-
Whats the Impedance recommendation for the Helix? From the manual it says they need to be high impedance otherwise you get distortion (which i do with my IEM) I have read the higher the impedance the harder it is to drive. I have come down to a few options AKG K701 rated 6s ohms Sennheiser HD 660 s rated 150 ohms or 600 at 250ohms Beyerdynamic DT 770 or 990 or 1990 80ohms to 250ohms Do i just all of them and A/B them?? :)

thanks so much for your replies. I'm going to get some new headphones and see if that makes a difference. Then i'll setup "live sounds" and "practice sounds" One last thing and that might be obvious. How do i connect my my guitar to helix to the computer so i can use the Helix Edit whilst using headphones. How would i then Jam along to youtube vids, Record to garage band and use transcribe? I know BBD_123 uses a mini mixer. Is that the only way?

Are you plugging directly into the helix?

ok thanks! Has anyone tried and tested a lot of these FRFR speakers? Are there any stand outs? I do have a EV ZLX12p https://www.andertons.co.uk/electro-voice-zlx-12p-active-2-way-1000w-loudspeaker-(each)-zlx12p?LGWCODE=ZLX12P;56375;6335&gclid=Cj0KCQjwkIzlBRDzARIsABgXqV_fhPcgIpTfjtqc5ywAS6ajYa9j3l990wj7kHsvtCkG3L6Hadc9XgIaAuk4EALw_wcB Will a FRFR speaker sound much better? Thanks

Can you get small Studio speaker FRFR?

Hello Ok So i did try out the headphones with the Helix and it does sounds rather bad! I think if i used the Headphones out of the box i would of been disappointed. So now i'm looking into going down the mini mixer route or a USB interface. Like the Universal Apollo. The mini mixer is certainly cheaper but is the sound quality of the Universal Apollo going to be that much better? I use the Helix edit software’s as its nice as easy to edit. I have some powered monitors too (Tannoy Reveal 802) These don’t get used that much as i’m using mainly headphones. I need to be able to use the Helix to get my guitar sounds, Play music on the computer and use programs like Transcribe to you guessed it Transcribe :) Basically I need something that sounds great through the headphones… doesn’t colour the sound and makes it sound like going through a PA and for it to work with the Tannoys. I do have a Vox air which is great and does everything above but i would like the Helix to function in the same way if that makes sense! Dean

so you connect your helix floor to the mini mixer via 2x xlr stereo L and R? The from the there you go from 1/4 L/mono to mini jack (mic) into PC or mac? Does the phones socket sound better in this than straight from the helix? Again can you not connect the mac direct to the Helix or an iPhone? or it is it best to go through a mixer like the one above?
-
Thank you! So when practicing at home are most people just playing through a monitor or speakers? Or whats the best way to use headphones? A headphone or just straight it?
-
I'm planning to run guitar into Helix and then sending it to front of house. On occasions I will use my EV ZLX-12P for a monitor. Has the current Helix solved the Phantom Power thing i have been reading? Or do i need a blocker or a DI? Whats the best, smallest, best sounding Blocker/DI thats doesn't colour the sound out there? Just need to make sure the channel i plug into doesn't accidentally get phantom power sent to it. Not the best design really. I'm very new to all this so how would the Helix be connected up? I'm guessing XLR would be better with longer runs to get sent to front of house, and 1/4 jack to the EV ZLX? For Home Is it best to always run it though a speaker(s)? As apposed to headphones as i have read the headphone input isn't great and you don't get the true sound?

Hi I have read about using headphones with the Helix and that not all headphones are suitable. I have IEM 64 Audio A6t's and i was wondering would they be good enough? I have ordered the Helix and will be arriving next week but was wondering if need to order some more suited headphones. I'm really after a quality headphone that i can use to setup my sounds so they sound identical in a live setting whats coming out front of house. I'll be using a IEM mix when playing live and was hoping the A6t would be good enough! They cost me a fair amount as they are moulded have 6 drivers. https://www.64audio.com/product/A6t-Custom-In-Ear-Monitor I keep hearing about these Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro but i would hope mine are more superior? Any help would be great! Really looking forward to trying the Helix out!
