  1. Correction...Putting the Helix in front of the Katana keeps the hum when both are plugged into USB.
  2. Hey guys, I'm trying to run my Helix with 4 cable method into my Boss Katana Artist MKII (I like the clean Katana amps, but Helix Overdrive amps). I have both units plugged into my computer by USB, but there's a loud hum coming thru the lines. If I unplug one of the USB's it cleans up. If I skip 4CM and just run Helix in front of the Katana, it also cleans up. Both units plus my laptop are on the same power bar running to the same plug in my room. I've tried different plugins around the room for each item, but no difference. If I unplug the laptop power, it also still hums. I don't know what to do about it. I've seen people saying to use a hum eliminator on the send line from the Helix (https://www.amazon.ca/Pyle-Home-Eliminator-PHE400-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B00BARTW42/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=pyle+hum&qid=1595970682&sr=8-1). Or do I just need a good power conditioner? Thanks
  3. Ok thanks. I am a PC guy, so no aggregate. I'll set the Helix with XLR out to interface, and Guitar Out into my amp...don't know why I didn't think of the yesterday.
  4. Hey I don't see an answer for this anywhere... I want to record a dry DI track, and a mic'ed up guitar cab. I have my guitar > Helix > real amp and cab. I also have a USB cable from Helix into my computer. I use a Focusrite 2i4 as my main audio interface, and my guitar cab is mic'ed up with an SM57 and running to the Focusrite. I'm using Reaper, and can easily get the mic'ed up cab coming thru the Focusrite. But I can't even see my Helix inputs anywhere. Am I able to run the Focusrite and Helix thru USB at the same time? Or do I need to get an actual DI box, then run everything thru the Focusrite? (Helix is only being used as effects before my amp...no amp or cab models are being used on Helix).
  5. Ok my other option would be the Katana Artist then (1x12 speaker, has midi in). My only concern with that...I've been playing a Marshall MG100fx for years thru a marshall 4x12 cab. Would the 1x12 speaker on the Katana be hard for me to deal with? I'm mostly a bedroom player, and don't crank it up much to begin with.
  6. Hey guys, I'm looking at getting a Boss Katana amp. I'm either between the 100w/2x12 combo, or the 100w head. I want to use the amps channels, but use Helix to do the switching. I'd like to set up 4 snapshots (clean, crunch, OD, lead), and have the Katana switch with each of those. I know the 100w Katana head has midi functionality and will do all this, but I like the idea of the combo amp for portability. So does anyone know if Helix will do proper channel switching on a Katana combo amp thru the footswitch jacks on the amp? Thanks
  7. Damn ok, that's kind of what I was thinking but was really hoping it wasn't the case though. Oh well, I'll use 4 cable method and find some preamps I like within Helix and get it sounding good!
  8. Hey guys, Has anyone tried using Helix to channel switch on an external Marshall amp? I've got a Marshall MG100FX, with the 4 button programmble Marshall footcontroller (pedl-90008). My amp has 4 channels: clean/Crunch, Overdrive/more overdrive. I can get the clean/crunch to toggle using an insert cable, but it only switches from one to the other, and isn't able to be assigned to a Snapshot with just crunch or just clean. And I cannot get the Overdrive channels to work at all. The Marshall foot controller only uses a 1/4" standard guitar cable, so I've tried that, TRS, and the insert cable. Any help would be great!
