I sing and play guitar in a band that has another guitarist. We alternate lead and rhythm responsibilities. I use a different preset for each song in the setlist and snapshots for different sections. I love it the tonally flexibility and simplicity it gives me to focus on playing especially because i'm singing as well.
I play an Epiphone Casino with gibson p-90's in it. I keep everything on ten. I know the conventional wisdom is to roll back the volume and tone at least a touch. For me however, it's one less thing I have to worry about if I use the EQ parameters and tone shaping for each individual snapshot. The only downside for me to this is sometimes my clean tone can be a tiny bit hotter than I would like but I just view it as a compromise.
Here is my question.
is there anything wrong with setting up the patches for my guitar all the way up so the tone is more consistent and I don't have to ride the volume and tone knobs while I'm singing?
