This is a rant and a suggested upgraded.
My daughter has the Relay G10S. After a practice session of three hours, She plugged the Relay G10 transmitter in to the G10s Receiver base unit to charge.
Unbeknownst to her, the power to the location onstage where it was charging was later turned off, so the device stopped charging and remained there.
When she returned the battery was 100% flat and try as we might it will not charge back up, the green lights flash for a while and stop, the sub 30 minute red pulse light in the transmitter goes for a while than fades out and the green charging lights stop. We have been trying for two days.
Basically if the power is removed from the base unit it literally drains the battery and kills it. a $NZ200 replacement. This is the second transmitter she has lost due to charging cycle problems, these units should not be so temperamental. At our Church we have a dozen Rechargeable AA batteries, in three different chargers, most of the time sitting in the charger with power off, we give them a literal hiding yet they never give us a problem.
In this day of modern computer controlled equipment it should be so easy to have a power sensing relay that isolates the transmitter from the base unit if power is lost. You should not have to hover over it like a mother hen.
Please add a modification to the production that:
A senses when power is lost terminated
B disconnects the transmitter from the circuit so as not to discharge the battery or damage it.
C or at least make the battery easily replaceable repair rather than a complete replacement, even a removable battery compartment would be better..
Surely this is 5th grade electronics kit stuff to do.
Off to the shop to buy 'ANOTHER' Relay G10 .
