Hi all. I’ve just upgraded from a PowerCab 112 plus to the 212.
Most of the time, I’ll just be using the 212 in speaker mode with my Helix and am looking forward to mixing speakers etc.
However one of my main reasons is that I want to run a normal guitar one one speaker (let’s assume panned hard left, using a speaker model in the PowerCab), and then run the output from my guitar synth pedal into the second speaker. I feed my guitar synth into Return 1 on the Helix and process it on its own path in the preset.
So what I really want is to be able to run a speaker simulation on one speaker, and FRFR on the other, but it doesn’t seem you can do that. The closest seems to be run one speaker in Natural mode, but then the tweeter is deactivated which is not great for synth.
Of course I go could go full FRFR and use an amp+cab block in the helix for the guitar part, but I’ve tried this on my 112 and it’s really hard to get the same guitar sound through that route as via the speaker route, and the gain staging is totally different to the other presets so I find it hard to make the preset sit comfortably in a live situation. Ended up putting +10db gain blocks here and there to try and level things out.
is there anyway to get frfr on one and speaker mode on the other? I use solely and AES/EBU cable. Other than writing some custom firmware to activate the tweeter….
any ideas gratefully received!
thanks
