Thanks, I will. I can see it bothers you tremendously so I’ll be sure to continue this exercise with great vigor

Separately, I found DI's response to "why presets suck" and it's an interesting read. I'm reading it as DI saying "all presets suck" because that's the group think because they aren't dialed into that specific rig, so the Line 6 crew has embraced that in order to push folks to venture into creating their own presets. Of note is he says that the team will continue to try and make cool presets, and that's where I think the background behind the preset is helpful. Instead of creating a guy's tone from scratch, if we know that the preset has been built, we can leverage it as a blueprint, which we can all benefit from. https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/interesting-review-of-the-helix.1703652/post-21926615

To each their own. You may think the presets suck, others may not. I find some of the presets interesting, and getting the "behind the scenes" on them is helpful in finding new music, or getting closer to the tones of some of my heroes that I didn't connect the dots on. Sorry you may feel this is a pointless exercise, but I would appreciate if we could try to keep this constructive instead of actively working to shoot the effort dead.

Hi all - cross-posting from this post (link below) so we can start to work on a (new) source of truth for the 3.5 factory presets. Rest assured, I won't be spamming the forums with this, it just hit me today that I should've thrown this link in here. I put together an excel with descriptions of the Factory Presets in 3.5. Leveraged as much of the old file as I could from this particular thread. Link below. Would be great if folks could go in and add their notes on the presets they're familiar with. As you can see, we've gotten some great feedback already from folks on the Helix discord. I'd love if this could be turned into a comprehensive list that could be sent to the folks at Helix Help so they can throw it up on their site and we can all reference at any time. Not looking for fame or glory, I just want names to the presets! Click here - OneDrive Link - Helix Factory Presets Excel

I personally did this in excel because that's what I'm more comfortable with. However, if people aren't comfortable clicking the link because they feel it's suspicious, I'm happy to throw this up on an alternate platform like a google sheets. Thank you!!! Looks to be old, but hey, even a partial list I can still tie to the 3.5 presets is better than nothing. Surprised I had trouble finding this, but appreciate the assist nonetheless!

Hi all, just got a Helix (so excited!). I know Helix Help gives a lot of detail on the true names of each individual piece of gear, which is awesome, but is there something similar for the factory presets? For example - is there a spreadsheet or table online that says something like the below? Apologies if this is on the board or elsewhere, and google failed me. Thanks in advance for the help! Factory Preset: Plush Garden Artist: Stone Temple Pilots Song/Album: Plush (Song)

I think something like this from Costco may also be up your alley. Can't speak to the battery life though. Brue58ski's post above may have more of what you're looking for: CAT 1200 Peak AMP Digital Jump Starter | Costco

Will be finding out first hand next week. Wife approved, Helix ordered and on its way! "Crisis averted" haha

Thanks for sharing! The shuriken is very new, just a couple months old so I have some time before dealing with any potential battery concerns. I've had a stressful week work-wise, and I'm telling my wife I need to buy myself a present to get some positive emotions in my life. Naturally I told her that present needed to be the Helix Floor... we'll see if I get approval, fingers crossed! Haha
-
I can personally see why it was a labor of love. I absolutely love my Shuriken, it is hands down the funnest guitar I own. I wish the concept took off more, would love to see more work done on the software side (and I would've loved for these proprietary batteries to kick the curb), but I'm glad I own one. You know... that's another reason to get the Floor. If the battery in the variax dies and I can't get a replacement, my only option is VDI to Helix. The pressure to get a Floor is real! Haha
-
My Pod Go Wireless would be so upset with me if I abandoned it haha. But you know what, I may just have to convince the wife that the tax refund was destined to be spent on a Helix Floor! In terms of iterations - I agree with you that from a software perspective there's still a ton more they can do. I just feel from a hardware perspective there's not much more to be done, and I mean that in a complimentary fashion because the Helix Floor is such a complete product IMO. Re: L6 Link - I thought that did exist in the Helix? Isn't that how you can connect your PowerCab via an AES/EBU cable? Or I may be thinking of something else.
-
Hi all - I know the answer will probably be "any cable", but are there any suggested AES/EBU cables folks on here like to connect their Helix to their Powercabs? I have no specific requirements, not gigging, but I don't mind having a long cable (I have the 25 foot variax cable, I just use cable ties when using it at home with the Shuriken + Helix). Thanks in advance!

Having spent the weekend playing with my FIL's Helix Floor, I honestly can't see a way they can really iterate on the product much further outside of more DSP. I'm currently not in the market for a Helix yet, but have a serious case of GAS for one. It's just such a complete product and while I love my Pod Go Wireless for what it is and especially for introducing me to the modeling concept and getting me further hooked on the Line 6 ecosystem, the Helix Floor unequivocally blows it out of the water. One thing I've noticed - is I've seen everyone talking about the potential improvements to a Helix 2.0, but what I'm concerned about is the things they may subtract. For example, one big reason I'd want to get a Helix now is because it has a Variax port. What if Helix 2.0 removes the Variax port as a cost-cutting measure? Sure, it may have all the extra DSP in the world, but as a Variax + PowerCab owner, this would be a gut-punch. It's a tough game to play, on the one hand since I'm in no rush to buy one, I may as well wait and see if an upgrade does come out. On the other hand, what if this upgrade removes features I wanted? Things to think about!

Totally fair, I get the approach and more than anything I'm appreciative that Line 6 gives us the option to go that granularly or keep it high-level with Multi. In my case, I bought the Fremen Pink Floyd Presets for my FIL and setting them up on his Helix Floor and Variax, and the presets are virtually identical for Variax and non-Variax, so this would allow him to switch between the guitar he's fancying at the moment and only have one folder of Pink Floyd Presets as opposed to multiples. To your point though, if he had multiple guitars hooked up at once, I can absolutely see the value of having a preset shut off the other inputs. In this particular use-case he wouldn't have that problem so it's a non-issue, but if he gigs any time soon and that's something he actively does, then I discovered it's more than an easy enough switch to change Multi back to Variax and implement the setup you recommended above. Thanks for the feedback, it's good to see an alternative way of using this and how turning on only one input at a time has value.
