It was working but now every time I try to search for a tone I get an error about an "invalid token detected". Please help.

The amp has become virtually unusable because no matter what I try, I am getting a strange static/crackling noise in addition to the sound the amp should be making. This noise isn't very loud, but definitely noticeable. It has not been dropped or bumped around. Any suggestions on how I might troubleshoot and hopefully resolve this issue myself before taking it in for repairs?
