  1. Spent a day messing with a Cat 100 and seem to have found this amp just can't reproduce a high edge no matter what. I've tried everything treble/presence related and it all seems to hit a ceiling where all it does is distort the mid highs more. I had the POD Go nicely set up for a DSL20CR and everything was dialed in. 4 cable it into the cat 100 and all the high edge is completely gone. To that end I'll also add that the DSL20 has a cream back in it rather than the original super fizzy speaker that came with it. So when I swapped the cream back it initially felt like top end missing but in reality it was just missing the fizz. So I have what feels more like a balanced speaker in the DSL with the PG 4 cabled. Move that to catalyst and nothing but a boxy sound with zero edge to it. Using the same settings when running it through the catalyst most upper harmonics are completely lost and striking a full chord toward the upper end of the neck completely loses most of the top end signal that ends up hushing all the upper notes. So the question is, who else feels the stock speak in the cat 100 is boxy and flat and replaced it? Anyone? And before I hear the "they pick the right speaker for the amp" thing again, note that the speaker was most likely chosen for sales purposes first, then audio response. While the amp is versatile, it's only versatile to a point if it can't produce that biting edge.
  2. Decided to pick up a Catalyst 100 as a backup amp to my main tube amp, then got to thinking for home use, how can I use them both to widen my sound? The effects I'd need L/R so to speak are a dual delay in the POD GO as well as the dual pitch effect. The goal being to have a short delay included in the L and a longer delay out of the R amp, as well as have a + cent pitch out the left and a - cent pitch out of the right amp. I don't want to mess anything up in either amp or POD Go so I thought I'd ask what the best/safest setup would be to get that accomplished. Is it possible to use a 4 cable setup and just include the CAT100 in the effects loop by sending the R output directly to AMP IN on the CAT 100? Already using 4 cable with a DSL20CR, just trying to use the CAT 100 as the R side with separate delay and pitch. I can accomplish this just using the Micropitch as I can send a separate A or B to either amp but them I'm using the preamps of both amps which I'd rather avoid if possible. I'm also assuming the dual effects like a dual delay and pitch can be separately assigned one delay to L the other to R and same with pitch from the POD Go using dual pitch. Any idea?
  3. Thank you sir! I originally was using send/returns and found that didn't work, so I found a YouTube video showing I needed to use the front end of the amp in the mix, which didn't make sense as running a line into the front end of the amp doesn't make sense when bypassing the preamp in the first place. Works though, and even though the main out is in the channel in on the amp. I did all the rest, initial backup, firmware update etc. As for the rest, I'm going through and populating the user presets with the amp models I want. I basically made 3 blank templates, pulling all the blocks I don't use like loop, amp cab etc. freeing up the blocks I'll be using with specific amps. I'm sure I'll be reconfiguring this thing for months as I vet out what it is I want. There's more than 3 ways to do one thing on these so I'm going through trial and error to find out the setup I'll use most. I was thinking after taking all the models I need I'd wipe the factory and call that the home setup and use the user settings for live. Not sure yet. I did pull all the cab models from the templates as I didn't find one that sounded any good, sounded like they compressed the signal too much when going back into the combo. I haven't had the chance to hear what it sounds like without a cab model in the mixer,
  4. Found it. 4 cable method wasn't what I thought it was supposed to be. close
  5. POD Go fresh out the box and am trying to check out the various amp configurations with a DSL20 combo. What I'd expect to be able to do is completely bypass the entire preamp section of the amp and strictly use the PG for the preamp/amp and cab to see their "uncolored" sound. So far I've only been able to get any audio by hitting the front of the preamp, tried using the amp's return line with the FX loop switched on but plugging the guitar into the PG, and SENDING out the the RETURN on the amp yields zero audio. Rather than blow tubes by doing something incorrect, can anyone advise on how to plug guitar into PG then send total PG effects to the DSL20C amp section and bypass the entire preamp section? I'm sure this is possible I just haven't found anything that completely removes the amp's preamp. Thanks guys!
