I had issues with USB 3.0 and POD HD500x on Windows 8. I think i did a factory reset on the HD500x firmware, and made sure I was using a USB 2.0 port, reinstalled from scratch, updated firmware, everything has worked since.

You are aware that you can change the extension of all files in a directory simultaneously in all operating systems with a single command? Should be pretty strait forward to update these.
