Connecting Variax 300 to PC Workbench

Hi, sorry if this question's been answered, I searched but did not find. Looking for a way to connect my old Variax 300 to my PC to use Workbench, and my HD Desktop won't do it. The workbench hardware interface seems impossible to find. Has anyone tried/suceeded using any other kind of usb/ethernet adapter than the Line6? Wondering if it has to be the Line6 interface or will another adapter do the job? Thanks for any advice :)
