Ux8 Problem with Yosemite

Im still running a 2009 17" Macbook pro with my UX8. (10.6.8). I use the gearbox plugin with garageband (6.0.5) - Now, I understand this is some OLD tech and versions, but everything works reasonably well. Could someone let me know if it's safe to upgrade to Yosemite and Garageband 10 yet? I have an issue where i need to do a repair install, but don't have my 10.6 discs, and Yosemite isa free upgrade... If anyone could take the time to answer this, I would be more than grateful! Cheers!
