  1. Ok, that makes sense. I would have to un-disable the POD sound card for ity, but I will make my notes about that. You are a great resource here. I have read lots of your other posts. Thanks again
  2. Perhaps you meant it the right way, but your words make me wonder if you may be thinking that you should the make the parameter knob levels the same. It is not that, it is twiddling whatever parameters knobs may be available in each patch (or adding a new one) until you get a volume level that matches the volume of your other patches. I use NewTone as my standard volume reference and make all my patches come out at that volume. And as others have said, once you do them all you should be done with it. A hassle, but apparently the only way.
  3. Thanks Duned and hurghanico. Good thought to ask about the default device. I double checked, and the default is, in fact, the built-in sound card. But why was I so airheaded before your comments that I did not think to watch the sound card window when I plugged in the POD?? The POD does, indeed, make itself the default card every time it is plugged in. When I right clicked to un-default it I saw the option to disable it entirely, and presto – no more HD500 audio in my face – ever. Well, until I want the POD sound card to be active for some reason, in which case I will have forgotten what I did and probably post again. No, jk, I will document it for later. Thanks again you guys for helping me! What a cool group.
  4. I have sort of the reverse problem. I hope it is close enough to the subject matter of this thread to be welcomed here instead of needing its own new topic. (I'm new to this forum.) I'm searching for a way to tell my HD500 to NOT hijack the computer audio output when the USB is plugged in. I plug in the USB only to run the HD500 Edit interface, not to capture audio. I want my computer audio to stay on the earphone output and go into my PA mixer into its own channel where I can EQ it to sound nice for YouTube videos, etc. to play my guitar along with. (not for recording) I don't want the computer sound to go through the HD and come out on my PA's guitar channel, which is EQed for my guitar. Is there a way to do this? Also, I have the problem that hurghanico mentions where I plug in the USB just to run Edit, and whatever audio is playing (YouTube, etc.) freezes and has to be restarted. SongSurgeon, unfortunately, freezes and will not restart again properly at all unless I do some fiddling that I can't quite remember. I think I have to turn off the HD itself, leave the USB in, start SS, then turn on the POD again. Or some stupid ritual like this that I will have to figure out again next time it happens. Things would be much better if I could just tell the HD to keeps its hands off the computer audio output altogether, and connect only to the Edit program. Thanks in advance for any advise.
  5. Although not a solution to this problem, especially of you use lots of patches, I laboriously compare each patch level volume with New Tone then find something - anything - in the patch to make its volume the same as New Tone. Channel Volume has been a good choice when available in the patch because it doesn't seem (at least to me) to change the sound. The mixer LR sliders have worked in a pinch depending on where the mixer is in the path. I have resorted to an output volume control in an FX or amp but it is more likely to change the sound unless it is near the end. This is the only make shift mitigation I have been able to come up with. At least New Tone provides a standard volume to test against You all know much more about this than I do, I'm sure, so maybe this is a duh, no brainer for you. Or perhaps a duh, dumb idea. But I thought I would try out this here forum thingy with a first post.
